You can use Internet Explorer's shortcut keys to perform lots of different tasks quickly or to work without a mouse.

Window and Tab keyboard Shortcuts

  • CTRL+click: Open links in a new tab in the background
  • CTRL+SHIFT+click: Open links in a new tab in the foreground
  • CTRL+T: Open links in a new tab in the foreground
  • CTRL+TAB or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB: Open a new tab in the foreground
  • CTRL+W: Switch between tabs
  • CTRL+1 To CTRL 8: Open a new tab in the foreground from the Address bar
  • CTRL+9: Switch to a specific tab number
  • CTRL+ALT+F4: Switch to the last tab
  • CTRL+Q: Close other tabs
  • ALT+ENTER: Close current tab (or the current window if tabbed browsing is disabled)

  • CTRL+O: Open a new website or page
  • CTRL+N: Open a new window
  • CTRL+W: Close the current window (if you only have one tab open)

  • UP ARROW: Scroll toward the beginning of a document
  • DOWN ARROW: Scroll toward the end of a document
  • PAGE UP: Scroll toward the beginning of a document in larger increments
  • PAGE DOWN: Scroll toward the end of a document in larger increments
  • HOME: Move to the beginning of a document
  • END: Move to the end of a document
  • ESC: Stop downloading a page
  • ENTER: Activate a selected link

Working With Tabs

  • CTRL+click: Open links in a new tab in the background
  • CTRL+SHIFT+click: Open links in a new tab in the foreground

  • CTRL+PLUS SIGN: Increase zoom (+ 10%)
  • CTRL+MINUS SIGN: Decrease zoom (- 10%)
  • CTRL+0: Zoom to 100%

Working With Print Preview

  • ALT+P: Set printing options and print the page
  • ALT+U: Change paper, headers and footers, orientation, and margins for this page
  • ALT+HOME: Display the first page to be printed
  • ALT+LEFT ARROW: Display the previous page to be printed
  • ALT+A: Type the number of the page you want displayed
  • ALT+RIGHT ARROW: Display the next page to be printed
  • ALT+END: Display the last page to be printed
  • ALT+MINUS SIGN: Zoom out
  • ALT+PLUS SIGN: Zoom in
  • ALT+Z: Display a list of zoom percentages
  • ALT+F: Specify how you want frames to print (this option is available only if you are printing a webpage that uses frames)

Using Ctrl+ Button

  • Ctrl+T: Open a new tab  or Press Ctrl, and click a link: Open link in a new tab

  • Ctrl+Shift+N: Open a incognito window

    Address Bar Shortcuts

    • F6 or Ctrl+L or Alt+D: Highlight content in the web address area
    • Type a search term: Perform a search using your default search engine
    • Type the part of the web address without ‘www.’ and ‘.com’, then press Ctrl+Enter: Your desired website will be open REMEMBER If website address contain other extension except .com, it will not work.
    • Type a search engine keyword or URL, press Tab, then type a search term: Perform a search using the search engine associated with the keyword or the URL. Google Chrome prompts you to press Tab if it recognizes the search engine you’re trying to use.
    • Type a web address, then press Alt+Enter: Open your web address in a new tab
